Week 9 Reading and Writing

Image
Looking back at all the reading that we have done overall there are many information that I have gathered from all the reading and there are many things that I have gotten from it that I think made me understand the development of games and the amount of work that actually going into designing a video game.  The one reading that I think made me get more interested in the information that is being provided was the video and reading that was on Game fun I loved it because of how much helpful information that could help me in trying to make my own game very interesting and fun to play. I have read many notes and it as helped me so much in trying to consider to what to I would like to get into my game to make my game sort of stand out and make it fun to play by the players but also looking back there are many things that I wish that I could try put in my game from the reading but the experience I have with developing and designing a game is not very strong. Before I was happy or unsure a

this week i have finally been able to have my player jumping in the way i want and having the object move towards the player i am finally happy with the lay out of this but i think once i have finished my coding the design of the game is what i would like to focus on and have alot more design to do with my background and my view point of the game play besides that i think i am well on my way in getting my work done and i glad i am too

Review Week Comments and Feedback

Image
T here are not many comments under my work in my blog but from what I have gathered from reading the few I have gotten from my classmate it as helped me very well because it shows that there are a lot that I am struggling with but looking at the comment I considered that I am not the only one that is very lost in many aspect of this module. Overall, I would rate this a 8 out of ten but the only thing that I feel it is lacking on is if they could describe all the thing that they thinks we could do to improve the issue that we are working with. I think the feedback that I have ben leaving for other people is good because not only do I state how good or how they are lacking in some places of their work, and I think anyway that is the best way to help someone by going advise in anyway not by only giving the good because knowing the bad also helps people very much because it gives everyone the aspect of areas I like that through my blog that there are many other people from the I

Unity Tutorial 07

image sourced by me  This week we are working on unity 4 and I still feel a little bit lost but the issue is that there are loads of codes that I still feel so behind on and it because I don’t have a complete understanding with everything that we need to design a game. So, this week I was still uncomfortable in trying to design this unity 4 because of how hard it is and I still feel so behind in adding script to a player and allowing the movement you need to the movement that you need to work with the player. I think the best thing I can just do now is just find   a unity tutorial that best suits my own game because I can not keep going with doing everything and still feeling so behind. The reason I was struggling so bad with this one was because there so much coding involved in this and there was so many mistakes was making and I would spend so long in trying to look for what the problem and I spent so long trying to lo

image link:  541 × 322 this week reading was video about    gamification, until this week I have never heard of this but I find it very interesting and I was willing to learn everything about it  because I am  always looking to learn something new every week.  the first thing that came into my head when watching the video it was when he stated that games are fundament things that our brain are reading to chew on. and also the example of what games teach us like chest teaches us  strategy and it made think what I want to actually put into my own game to teach my player. again this video brings up something that we learned in the past week , "flow  theory" this is very important in knowing your players skill gap and also  understand the skill level t make the game fun for them. I have to look through the book the was stated Advanced Game Design by Michael Sellers because it sounds very interesting and I

Unity Tutorial 06

t his week Tutorial was a very  hard and difficult  because of all the amount of different effects that are placed in the game and I was kind of happy that I was actually able to get a bit of this to work even though it was very difficult learning and following everything that being taught. The reason why I think this grabbed my attention for so long because there are many things from this that I would love to put into my one game with the running effect and the jumping up and down. Sum new skills we gained from this is Animation Controllers Animation States, Layers, and Transitions, Animation parameters Animation programming    SetTrigger(), SetBool(), SetInt(). Unto the second part of this week work 3.4 this is another thing I will be stealing into my own game to finally finish it off and making it good because sound and audio is one of the main thing in a game that will keep a players attention. This thing I think I will just be taking from this is the bomb sound that happens

this week we finally start by working and planning our game, this image above is the first image from the game i look forward in trying to design, i followed some small steps that was given to us in the video and i was glad is was able to follow it. this thing that find very difficult was the idea i had before hand was have object fall from the sky but after looking into it i feel like i cannot design it very well due to the fact i find it very difficult so i decided to look into unity one to get my inspiration from because that is also close to something that i am looking forward in trying to design, so i decided to place to object in a way where it still difficult also what i was struggling with was designing my scene i was not used to this because the unity work we usually do the scene are already done but since i sat and looked through all of it i was glad that i was able to get it done . also i find apply the code that i want to work with my player it doesn't seem to be work

Unity Tutorial 04

The unity 2.4 is one of the most difficult things that I have ever had to do, and it caused me so much stressed with all the coding and there was so many things that went wrong but when an error comes up I still don’t know why the code I did was wrong but then I had to go back and check everything one by one and then checking which things are spaced out properly.   Now we move onto unity 3 (Sounds and effect) this was interesting in learning about and just like before I am still struggling, and I am not going to stop trying my best even though it is very tough I really interested in learning everything so I can make my game the best I could, so I don’t fall behind in doing all the work. The new thing that that we laid out is Player jumps on spacebar press Player cannot double-jump     Obstacles and Background move left    Obstacles spawn on intervals In conclusion I can’t wait till learn more and understand everything in layig out function for my game and seeing how all of it

Games Decisions

this first  reading for this week (week 7) the thing that we are thought this week seems t be the most important part of the game and it is flow in game design and this something that i have been really looking forward in learning about. the meaning of flow in game design is a psychological that can be adapt into a game to make it more challenging and fun for the player. the easy was for you to understand this is by giving the breakdown  present player with a challenge--> player achieves a flow state ----> Maintain in flow state flow state is also described as being in the zone and it is when playing a game and losing track of time. the way in getting a player into a flow state and is giving them a challenge and knowing their skill level so you know what level that you should set them up with. also when a player first starts playing a game the thing it is good to have a graph for skill and challenge this is called the flow graph. Also the finale thing in keeping is keeping the

Game Vision Statement

Introduction: Out of the game idea that I have thought about I am more closely working with the idea of having a superhero dodging the objects that would be flying towards the hero. I like this idea more because of how I feel like I can   design it very well because I have played many games that are very similar to like Temple run or Subway surfers but when designing my game I am going to try to make my own stand out in a way that will make my game that it looks like I designed my own game that will look like it shows that I designed it. I am glad from learning the unity tutorial that we have been learning and I am glad we learned how to do a speed car game but the first thing I want to work with is designing amazing background and layout that would work well with the game. The designed I want to go for is to make the surrounding of the game should be something that can show that the hero is in danger, and I do not know yet if I would be able to design a building that is on fire

Unity Tutorial 01

This is My first experience in using unity, at first I was very scared to use it because of how difficult the it looked trying to get this done. So, once I actually tried and sit down to get this done I watched the video and after watching the video it was easily explained and I became more comfortable ad easy minded after getting the work done. The first thing we did was the unity 1.1 this was easily explained, and I done everything and did not have any trouble trying to get any of these ones done. The next one was then the unity 1.2 and this was me trying to allow my car to move forward and once I applied all the code to my vehicle I was so glad it was working and that kind of gave me a confident boost using unity more and more. The last one of this was then 1.3 and this was   just working with the camera and placing in the right angle for the high speed game and this always thought me in this something that I will need in future project and that is having my own lay out in uni

Unity Tutorial 05

This week (week 6) was very fun to do and challenging at the same time there are many skills that we gained this week working with the coding in unity and I was able to keep up with most of the thing that we were been shown about the game. The most difficult thing I think as like the other week is working with the script and trying to place every code that is needed to work with the game but like before there always little things that keep making errors pop up and allowing the game not to function properly so I would just check back and it will be that I had too much space, spelt something wrong or I did not a cap in an area that it is supposed to be . The new skills that we gained this week is how to have our background on repeat and allowing it to look like a never-ending background I was glad I was able to do this because this is something that will be very useful in designing my own game. After doing this unity 3 I feel more confident in designing my own game because there

The reading this week is about Game Design document, this is something that i have been looking forward in learning about because of the lack of knowledge  over the topic so after going through the first reading Communication and Game Design Documents. after reading through the first article i looked through the main thing i understand that you must learn to stay on top of is having a very good communication skill with both the designer and the team in which they are working with. from the reading i gathered a key information on when designing a game, a game document is very different in every game and it not something that can be taken lightly because that is what the whole team fall back on to check on to keep them moving forward. these are a few list of section that are listed in different types of game document. the most important  thing i get is you must update your document very often.              Game Design Overview (DESIGN) .    Detailed Design Doc (DESIGN) .      Story Ove
